Legal
Privacy Policy
The short version: we do not ask for application data, the Card Matcher never leaves your browser, and we do not sell personal information.
[LEGAL ENTITY] and [CONTACT EMAIL] throughout, and have this page reviewed by a lawyer licensed in your state. This is a solid, honest starting draft written to match how the site actually behaves — it is not legal advice and it has not been reviewed by counsel.Who we are
US Card Index is operated by [LEGAL ENTITY] (“we”, “us”). We publish editorial comparisons of U.S. credit and debit cards. We are not a bank, a lender, a broker or a licensed financial advisor, and we do not accept, process or store credit applications.
What we do not collect
The Card Matcher on our home page runs entirely inside your browser. The answers you select are held in page memory, are never transmitted to us or to anyone else, and disappear when you close the tab.
What is collected automatically
- Server and CDN logs. Our hosting provider records the IP address, user agent, referring URL and timestamp of requests, as is standard for any website. These are used for security, abuse prevention and aggregate traffic counts.
- Analytics. If analytics is enabled, it records which pages were viewed, which outbound links were clicked, approximate location derived from IP at country or region level, and device type. We use this to understand which comparisons are useful.
- Affiliate attribution. When you click an Apply link, the affiliate network and the issuer may set cookies or use link parameters to attribute an account opening to us. That process is controlled by them, not by us, and is governed by their privacy policies.
Cookies
We use only what is needed to run the site and, where enabled, to measure traffic. Affiliate networks and the issuers you click through to set their own cookies once you leave this domain. You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings; the comparison content on this site works without them.
Sharing
We do not sell personal information, and we do not share it with third parties for their own marketing. Data is processed by our hosting provider and, where enabled, our analytics provider, acting on our instructions. We may disclose information if legally required to do so.
Your rights
Depending on where you live, you may have the right to know what personal information is held about you, to request its deletion, to correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. California residents have these rights under the CCPA and CPRA; residents of Virginia, Colorado, Connecticut, Utah, Texas and other states have comparable rights under their own laws. Because we do not sell or share personal information, there is nothing to opt out of, but you may still exercise your other rights by writing to [CONTACT EMAIL]. We will not discriminate against you for making a request.
Children
This site is intended for U.S. adults who are old enough to hold a credit card account. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18.
Changes
If this policy changes materially we will update the date at the bottom of this page. Continued use of the site after a change means you accept the updated policy.
